The Diabetes Research Group

The Group has focussed on ways of both preventing and coping with the epidemic of diabetes and has contributed to local, national and international healthcare impact including:

  • Contribution to the development of diabetes therapies which have become part of standard diabetes treatment guidelines in the UK and worldwide;
  • Working with industry to assess devices for the monitoring of blood glucose, improving accuracy and identifying their place in diabetes management;
  • Internet-based national evidence-based education prescriptions for patients with diabetes;
  • Research into diabetic retinopathy resulting in changes in national and international policy;
  • Delivery of education in diabetes for healthcare professionals.
  • Delivery of public engagement and involvement
